Wooden Lace “Cotton wood”

I will times leave a deformity or shattered end on the peace.  This will show in part what the peace might have looked like before I finish with it, or to show that even in so-called imperfection beauty is present.  My pieces are what I call live wood, meaning I don’t use any plastic on them I use only boiled linseed oil and a good paste wax.

These pieces and designed to be touched and should be to appreciate them completely.

I have long thought that my wood pieces would lend themselves well in a school for the blind, as they so tactile and smooth’

My wood pieces are of mostly found hardwood, meaning cut from a friend’s the apple tree, a farmer’s fallen cottonwood, even a trade of apple for an equal amount of Carpathian walnut.  I work a piece with a foot operated flexible shaft tool using various bits, cutting burrs and standing drums, until I’m happy with it and most times there’s a lot of ugly before the beauty comes out.
